Home Ecosystems Smart Node
Keep the equipment you already have. Smart Node is a compact extension that brings compatible IR-controlled equipment and specialist Grove sensors into your Home Ecosystems controller and its daily patterns.

What Smart Node does
Keep the controller at the heart of your ecosystem. Place a Smart Node near an infrared-controlled device, a Grove sensor, or both. The node passes useful controls and measurements into the Home Ecosystems experience where supported.
Smart Node extends a controller; it does not replace one.
Infrared control
Point an existing remote at Smart Node and teach it the commands you use. Name the learned actions in Home Ecosystems, then call qualified actions from the app, a scene or a controller schedule.
Aquarium and terrarium lights, IR-controlled LED lighting and other compatible equipment are possible uses. Depending on the remote and verified profile, actions may include power, brightness, colour or mode.
One node may serve more than one IR device when placement allows. Range, line of sight and the device's own remote commands set the practical limits; no fixed device count is promised.
Planned for later: predefined manufacturer and model command sets in the app, so a known IR device can be selected without learning each command manually. Exact profiles will be qualified before publication.
Use a qualified Grove module where the measurement matters, then bring its readings into the wider ecosystem.
Sensor expansion
Smart Node's planned Grove connection opens a path for specialist sensing near an enclosure or water system. CO2, pH, water quality, temperature and humidity are examples of sensor categories to explore as integrations are developed.
The physical Grove connector does not automatically mean Home Ecosystems software supports a module. The exact sensor, measurement, firmware requirements and controller functions will be listed as each integration is verified.
Ways to use it
Put a node in sight of a qualified remote-controlled light or other device and use learned actions from your controller.
Connect one qualified Grove module and bring its supported readings into monitoring and automation.
Use the IR and Grove paths from one node where the equipment, sensor and installation support that combination.
Works with your controller
Bluetooth is planned for first-time onboarding. After setup, the intended controller connection depends on the product: Wi-Fi for Mini and Controller, with Pro Zigbee integration planned separately.
Planned Wi-Fi integration. Each Smart Node uses one of Mini's six Wi-Fi device connections.
Explore MiniPlanned Wi-Fi integration. Each Smart Node uses one of Controller's six Wi-Fi device connections.
Explore ControllerZigbee integration is planned, subject to implementation and qualification; it would count within Pro's Zigbee device capacity.
Explore ProUse cases

Use qualified IR commands from its remote to bring lighting actions into a controller-led daily pattern.

Place a qualified Grove sensor near the conditions you want to follow, then use supported readings in the wider ecosystem.

Put nodes in different line-of-sight zones when one IR location cannot reach all equipment.
These are intended applications. Specific equipment and sensors will be listed when qualified.
Home Ecosystems app
Set up a planned Smart Node over Bluetooth, name supported IR actions and view qualified Grove readings alongside the rest of your ecosystem. Use supported actions in controller schedules and scenes.
Your Home Ecosystems controller remains in control. Essential automation runs locally on the controller. Remote monitoring and control are available through the app when the controller, account and network are configured for remote access; cloud features need an internet connection.
Specifications in development
Smart Node is based on the NanoC6 development platform. Its planned first kit adds the IR receiving hardware needed for learning. Final kit contents, case and supported integrations will be confirmed before ordering.
